A.) Requirements for a Personal Therapy Dog / 404-444-9329
Whispering Oaks Professional Dog Training is a Georgia State Approved Facility (Our Georgia State Control Number is 34-34899119) and requires that all dogs be 100% up to date on all shots and be on a flea/tick program.
Therapist or your Personal Care Doctor should prescribe the need for a Therapy Dog. You should keep that with you while being out and about with your dog incase you are asked for it. You may be asked for a Letter from your Training Organization; we will be happy to provide that letter. I would also recommend that you have the AKC CGC Certification which we can also provide. You may also need this information for apartment rental, or house rental landlord if your Therapy Dog is for Personal or Family use.
Successfully Pass the 21 Day Boarding Training 100% Off Leash Program at Whispering Oaks Professional Dog Training. Mike Sinteff is an AKC Certified Evaluator #32666
Whispering Oaks Professional Dog Training and Mike Sinteff will evaluate you and your Therapy Dog Candidate with the AKC CGC Standard and our Advanced Training Standards to see if you qualify for the Certificate. A Question for you? Do you want this Therapy Dog for your personal use, family members use or are you wanting to do Therapy Dog Services in your area i.e. Assisted Living Homes?
Family or individuals who handle the dog MUST attend a FOUR HOUR TRAIN THE TRAINER SESSION on day 21 of Boarding Training and be able to use the Training System Trained and Taught while in the 21 Day Advanced 100% Off Leash Training Program. You and your dog must pass “As a Team”; it is possible your dog performs “To the Standard”, but you do not. This is why both you and your dog must be trained. Each member of the Team Must be Trained, and successfully pass. Over the 26yrs, We have found that Success Requires Dog and Handler Must Both Be Trained. Handler as the “Alpha Pack Leader” and Dog As the “Beta Pack Follower”.
